The Communications Postgraduate Program (Master’s and Doctor’s degrees courses) offered by UFSM has its focus area defined in Media Communication. It encompasses the study of media actions involved in structuring public spaces, visibility and legitimation of institutions and the configuration of contemporary identities. In this sense, it includes as a priority the study of modes by means of which media communications affect association, configuration and solidification of social relations in time and space.
The statement of the focus area in Media Communications seeks to:

a) make evident the field of media;
b) privilege a certain type of communication, providing studies and training for such communication in its dimensions of production and consumption;
c) privilege the incidence of such communication, its logic and references on the practices by other institutions that use it as a parameter for its communication protocols in the contemporary public spaces.
